June 2019 - Green Deal Shipping Signed

June 11th marked the day that the Green Deal Shipping was signed in the Netherlands. Green Deals are agreements between government and industry on sustainability and the energy transition. As part of the deal, it was agreed shore power energy tax would be reduced to foster shore power developments.

Siemens has been selected as subcontractor to help realize the onshore infrastructure in the Caland Canal. Siemens has significant experience in the field of shore power and has installed shore power in the US, China, Germany but also Scheveningen. The consortium is excited to have Siemens on board!

April 2019 - Feasibility Study Completed!

The consortium is proud to share the fact that the feasibility study report has officially been completed. The report can be downloaded here. The main conclusion is that the shore power connection is technically viable. However, several steps need to be made to make it commercially viable. Eneco, Heerema and the Port of Rotterdam are working hard to close the gaps and realize the project. Read all about it in the report.
